King River Rising

With a pumping rhythm section and wailing soloists, KING RIVER RISING blends Reggae and Rock seamlessly while paying homage to the predecessors of both genres.

Compared to the Black Seeds, Fat Freddy’s Drop and Kingfisha, KRR have spent the past three years busily honing their craft in Melbourne, backed up by manic visits to regional Victoria and sell-out shows in NSW and Queensland.

Fresh from their last East Coast tour which saw them support the likes of Nicky Bomba and The Sunny Coast Rudeboys at a packed out Triffid in Brisbane, 2020 is set to be a big year of new music and more touring.

Their single ‘Pull You Closer’ was released on the 6th of February to a sold out Basement at St Kilda’s Espy.

Their EP ‘Owe Your Own’ is set for release in the middle of the year. ‘Owe Your Own’ presents a truly exciting picture of the group’s musical trajectory and showcases chemistry that has grown through the highs and lows of touring, writing and gigging.

With many sonic backgrounds to choose from, the EP provides delicacy as well as intensity throughout five tracks. Rich and distorted guitar tones accompany sweet three-part harmonies, spacious and moody electric piano sits behind deep Reggae-styled snare, while thick, warm bass sits beneath the sharp stabs of the band’s talented horn section.

With a hunger to be pivotal players in Australia’s Reggae scene and hardened by three years on the road, KING RIVER RISING is a band to watch, with members pushing their own limits, as well as those of the Reggae Rock genre.
